Singing Men of Texas Combined Choirs Proposed Itinerary


September 23 - October 3, 2012


This itinerary follows the nautical schedule that has been approved by Viking River Cruises. There can be slight changes in docking times in the schedule, but based on the good experience with Viking in 2010, no significant changes are expected. The concert times may change as pastors and directors request back to back concerts in some locations. A final update will be posted six weeks before the mission.






Sunday, September 23

Afternoon flights from Dallas and Houston to Europe and on to Kiev, Ukraine.

Monday,September 24

Afternoon arrivals to Kiev Borispol airport, bus transfer to Port of Kiev for embarkation on Viking Lomonosov.

Evening dinner, familiarization meeting, and schedule review.

Tuesday, September 25

8:00 - 10:00 breakfast buffet and devotional.

Morning practice at Dom Evangeliya Baptist Church in central Kiev. Lunch served on board. Afternoon walking tour of the capital city.

Transfer to the church for: Concerts at Dom Evangeliya, 5 and 7pm.

Back to the ship for dinner and midnight departure for Kremenchug.

Wednesday, September 26

8:00 - 10:00 breakfast buffet and devotional.

Morning team meetings: prayer team in the library, advertising team in the coffee bar, greeting team in the Panorama Bar, and English team in the Sky Bar.

After team meetings there will be a Russian lesson with the Ukrainian staff in Sky Bar followed by lunch.

Arrive in Kremenchug at 3:00pm. Walk in the city to hand out invitations to attend the Concert at Petrovsky Palace Concert Hall at 7pm.

Back to the ship for dinner. Lomonosov will stay docked in Kremenchug overnight due to the lock and drawbridge schedule on the Dnieper River.

Thursday, September 27

8:00 - 10:00 breakfast buffet and devotional.

Morning walking tour from the dock 15 minutes through the center to the Baptist church. History for Ukrainian Baptists lecture at the church.

Lunch on the ship and 2pm departure for Dnipropetrovsk.

Afternoon sailing on the Dnieper and a photo presentation "The Dnieper and It's Locks" by Henry Seiler, the manager of Lomonosov staff.

Evening Captain's Reception and Ukrainian dinner. Dinner will be followed by: Crew Show and Sharing.

All night sailing to Dnipropetrovsk, regional capital with 1 million population.

Friday, September 28

8:00 - 10:00 breakfast buffet and devotional.

Russian lesson in the Sky Bar with our Ukrainian staff after breakfast.

Chef cooking demonstration in the Panorama Bar.

Noon arrival in Dnipropetrovsk. (Before we arrived in Dnipro in 2010, the church burned completely. Singing Men of Texas and their friends have given $67,000 to help them rebuild.)

Afternoon trip to the Baptist church to see the progress. Coaches will bring us back through the center for a brief tour. We will stop in the center and hand out invitations to the Concerts in the Hall of Culture, Dnipropetrovsk at 5 and 7pm.

Back to the ship for dinner and departure for Zaporozhye during the night.

Saturday, September 29

8:00 - 10:00 breakfast buffet and devotional.

Arrive in Zaporozhye at 10:00.

Coach tour of this famous city, "the Detroit of Ukraine", population 1 million.

Lunch on the ship and afternoon walk through the center to hand out invitations to the evening Concert in Glinka Concert Hall at 5 and 7pm.

Return to the ship for dinner and night departure for Dnipropetrovsk.

Sunday, September 30

7:30 - 9:00 breakfast buffet.

Morning worship with the church at Dnipropetrovsk.

Lunch on the ship.

Afternoon transfer one and one half hours to the regional capital of Poltava for Concert in Poltava Hall of Culture at 5pm.

Return to the ship for dinner and departure for Kremenchug.

Monday, October 1

9:00 - 11:00 breakfast buffet and devotional.

All day sailing up the Dnieper to Kremenchug. Morning free for rest and preparation for final concerts.

Lunch and afternoon arrival to Kremenchug.

Coach transfer to the regional capital of Kirovograd for Concert at the Drama and Concert Hall at 7pm.

Return to the ship for a late dinner.

Lomonosov departs for Kiev at 11pm.

Tuesday, October 2

8:00 - 10:00 breakfast buffet and devotional.

Morning of sailing with time to pack for home. Lunch and afternoon Ukrainian Tea Party.

Afternoon arrival to Kiev and Concert at Preabrazeniya Baptist Church Or Sviatoshino Baptist Church.

Return for the Captain's Farewell Dinner on the ship and prepare for flights.

Wednesday, October 3

Buffet breakfast and disembark for coach transfers to Borispol Airport and flights home.
