Financial Aspects

Michael Gott personally accepts no honoraria or “love offerings” for his livelihood.  Any gifts or contributions sent to him go totally to the Michael Gott Evangelistic Association.  His salary (determined by a board of directors and which has for more than twenty years been equivalent to the salary of a high school teacher with a master’s degree in his home state) is paid by the Association.

All monies received as support go into the Association.  Michael Gott personally guarantees that a public audit of the accounts will be conducted annually.  The name of the accounting firm, located in Arlington, Texas, is available upon request, as well as information on the pay packages of Michael Gott and all employees of the Evangelistic Association.

The headquarters of the Michael Gott Evangelistic Association is located in Keller, Texas.  Business matters for the organization are conducted at that location.  Crusades, rallies and revivals, and international evangelism events are planned and coordinated out of the team offices.

The primary objective of any Michael Gott evangelistic event is to bring uncommitted individuals into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ with a desire for each of them to become an active member in a local church.  The follow-up procedures that follow each event have been developed to achieve this goal.  After years in evangelism the follow-up program has become an extremely important part of any evangelism event conducted by Michael Gott.  Often this follow-up program is underwritten by the Association.

Michael Gott, throughout over 40 years, has sought to maintain financial integrity and has been often praised by outside observers.

Related to finances, Michael Gott and his staff are committed to the highest standard of stewardship.  Therefore in revivals and crusades, policies have been made in order that in all financial affairs, a spirit of transparent honesty becomes immediately apparent.

It has been said that “operating above reproach is not only a goal, but also a reality for the Michael Gott Evangelistic Association.”  Every effort is made to be totally open and forthright in all matters related to funds and contributions and in all financial matters in general.

This is done in two ways by the Michael Gott Evangelistic Association:

First, in every area-wide crusade, local pastors and laity become the financial policy-making body.  This group is responsible for determining the budget and raising and disbursing the necessary funds to meet the crusade budget.  Michael Gott is not involved in handling the funds, but he does assist in raising the budget.

Second, Michael Gott does not and will not make financial demands such as a guaranteed minimum amount required for conducting a crusade.  However, it is expected that a fair compensation will be made by the policy-making group.  Past experiences prove this to be the case.

Gifts received into the ministry account allow the Michael Gott team to go into some of the most difficult and dangerous places in the world to present the gospel of Christ.  Almost one-half of each year the Michael Gott team is involved in ministry in countries too poor to give any financial reimbursement or support or in countries where it would be illegal to do so.

Concerning support received, the policy is as follows:  All gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.  All contributions are solicited with the understanding that MGEA has complete control over the use of all donated funds.  Our board-approved policy is that all gifts designated for a specific project be applied to the project, with up to ten percent used for administrative and fundraising expenses.  Occasionally, the Association receives more contributions for a given project than can be wisely applied to the project.  When that occurs, the Association uses these funds to meet a similar need.  MGEA does not provide goods or services in consideration for contributions.
